Our selection of multi-functional ironworkers provide limitless options for your metalworking needs. With shearing, notching and hole-punching mechanisms, the ironworker machine is an elemental device in the machinery world that delivers countless uses. Ironworkers assist in fabrication, diesel repair, maintaining farming equipment and other heavy machinery.

Our offering of superior models have been engineered and constructed using the most advanced building methods and are composed of only the heaviest steel. These high quality ironworkers are known to last a lifetime with the durability to withstand tremendous force. Our selection includes both mechanical and hydraulic powered models, whether you are looking for economical options or high performance advantages, we have an ironworker designed for you.

Our ironworkers are available in single cylinder models with punching capacities from 30-50 tons, as well as dual cylinder that can manage 60 to 190 ton in punching abilities. For an effective and solution to your everyday workload, the dynamic ironworker is a must-have in the machinery world.

The Swiss Army Knife of Your Machine Shop

Since its invention in the late 1800s, the ironworker’s main strength has been its ability to perform a variety of operations. It can punch a range of materials with punches of various sizes and shapes. It also can shear rod, flat bar, angle, and channel. In addition, it can notch angle iron, pipe, channel, and flat bar. Many ironworkers are available with special tooling to bend, stamp, and form too.

As versatile as the ironworker is, however, it is possible to purchase the wrong machine-or at least not the best machine-for your application. Important considerations for selecting a machine include its capacity, versatility, safety features, and quality.

The material thickness you process will indicate whether to use an ironworker or a turret punch press. An ironworker punches plate up to 1 inch, and sometimes even thicker. Typically, turret punch presses are used on sheet metal material ¼ in. and thinner. Ironworkers usually are used for shorter production runs and applications for which tolerances are not as critical.

All This Capability and You Don’t Have One?

With capabilities that when considered in total, almost amaze, as the different functions just keep on coming. Today’s modern Iron Workers have so many different capabilities one almost has to keep a list, so you don’t forget some capacity along the way. The new series of Jorgenson Machine Tool’s Ironworkers the IW series, leads the industry in both performance and build quality.

The build quality begins right at the start of construction, with a massive over weight steel frame which has been welded by skilled MIG operators and then stress relieved prior to machining. The initial machining process is accomplished utilizing a 5 axis c-n-c milling machine to produce the most accurate base structure. Attached to this base structure is the heart of the Jorgenson Machine Tool Iron Workers.

A combination of a massive hydraulic pump coupled to a powerful overload protected electric motor give the grunt you would expect from these powerful machines. Very large twin cylinders (on the 60 ton and up) accomplish the actual work that is produced at a specific station. These same twin cylinders allow two operations to happen simultaneously at two different stations.

The Jorgenson Machine Tools Iron Workers are well engineered, efficient, and optimized for long life. These universal machines are supplied with standard tooling including X. Y gauging support tables at punch, shear, and notch stations. Each work station is also equipped with specially designed hold downs at all five work stations.  These specially designed hold downs ensure safety while providing precision alignment and ease of use. Jorgenson Machine Tools IW series uses all vertical movement to perform all functions. This is achieved through to use of vertical hydraulic cylinders. The big advantage to the vertical movement is less material waste due to less clearance needed, consequently, punch tooling will last much longer as the stress on the punch is spread out over the entire circumference of the punch face, instead of just one edge of the punch as in the older style of “rocker arm type” of Iron Workers.

Flexibility Is Key

That flexible enough for you?  By the way all the above mentioned processes can be accomplished on mild steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aero-space alloys, copper, aluminum and brass.

These universal machines are supplied with standard tooling including X, Y gauging support tables at punch, shear, and notch stations. There are easily adjusted hold downs at all five work stations. Each work station is also equipped with specially designed hold downs to ensure safety while providing precision alignment and ease of use.
