Fadal FL-12 Horizontal Turning Center
CNC Metal LathesFadal FL-12Horizontal Turning CenterMax. turning dia. and length: 13.7"/23.6"If you’re looking for "big," you have found it. Behold, the big boy of Fadal’s line-up of the Classic Series Horizontal Turning Centers. Yep it’s the FL-12 in the skin. There’s only one main objective of the horizontal turning center called the FL-12, and that’s to make chips, plain and simple. Everything about this CNC lathe suggests that it is capable of some serious feed rates. With a big motor and heavily-reinforced spindle, the FL-12 is capable of heavy cuts while resisting the effects of lateral loads against the spindle such as deflection. There’s plenty of power available for the FL-12 to run heavy cutting tools on materials that span the spectrum of the modern manufacturing environment. Even though this big fella moves around with 4 h.p. size motors feeding the X and Z axis, accuracy does not suffer because of it. With two-tenths of an inch positioning and one-tenth of an inch repeatability, the FL-12 offers industry-standard accuracy in all directions. Fadal came to party all right — the FL-12 is packin' and ready to play.

• specifications are subject to changeThe FL-12 H.T.C. Can Take Some Cuts, Does It Have the Features? No short-cutting it here. The FL-12 does not want for standard features. As with all the other models in the Fadal Classic Series CNC turning machines, the FL-12 enjoys a list of standard features that machines from many manufacturers do not. With a rapid traverse approaching 1200 inches per minute and an almost 400 inch per minute feed rate available, there is plenty of capability built into the FL-12. Not to mention a whole host of standard features like:A chip conveyor system with chip bucket.A tool pre-setter.Rigid tapping.A bar feeder interface in the standard CNC controller, the Fadal 64LP.World class componentry adorns this machine from one end to the other. And all that is taking place under the hood; what surrounds the actual cutting envelope is what really counts. As noted above, this FL-12 machine moves around with big X and Z axis motors on over-sized ball screws. While the Fadal Engineering Company packs as much capability and quality into this outstanding CNC lathe as is possible, the FL-12 is priced to put as big a smile on your face as the one you had the first time you saw the machine take a smokin' heavy cut. What Other Technology Can We Count On?Do you hear that sound? You have to be listening really close... there it is again! That’s the muffled cheer going up amongst all the operators that will ever run your new Fadal CNC lathe. Why, it's simple — it’s the Fadal 64LP CNC controller that’s creating all the grins. Packed full of features and with plenty of expansion built in, it’s an operator favorite. The 64 is a Windows-based controller that speaks the same language as the machinist him or herself. With easy-to-understand step-by-step programming, the process of building the piece-part within the controller first is much simplified, leading to easier, more accurate programming of the CNC machine tool on the shop floor. This ease of capability is especially useful if a single operation has to be re-run for single dimension correction. Of course, a conventional downloaded program from the host main frame computer or laptop is always an available avenue to get the piece-part program into the controller.Where Can I Go to See the Fadal Classic Series Horizontal Turning Centers?Buds Machine Tools in Salt Lake City, Utah is where.
